With a continued record of success since their inception in the late 1990's, this Sussex based recruiter operate in the industries of Financial Services, Accountancy, HR and Law, and recruit for clients in the South of England.

They have a well-structured training and development scheme which continues from graduate to managerial level. With their emphasis on attracting and retaining quality staff, the company has an extremely low attrition rate given the competitive nature of the recruitment industry.

The company offers a great introductory scheme for a trainee, encompassing both classroom and hands on training to develop your recruitment consulting skills. The programme will include intensive theory based tuition interspersed with practical experience, workshops and project work, both within a group of your peers and with fully trained consultants. You will also gain practical experience working within the business as part of a team, rotating across six divisions and experiencing different market areas and disciplines.

In particular, typical work activities are likely to include:

- Canvassing (cold calling) employers by telephone to establish new contacts and their precise recruitment requirements
- Documenting a client's details and vacancy requirements in a remit
- Clarifying and negotiating terms and conditions (code of practice) relating to the job role
- Advertising posts appropriately - drafting and strategically advertising using a wide range of media, newspapers, magazines or local radio
- Headhunting - approaching suitable candidates who are already happy in their current position
- Reviewing applications, managing interviews, considering candidates and short-lists
- Monitoring candidates when placed, as part of the after sales service
- Collecting feedback from employers on the performance and suitability of candidates who have previously been placed with them
- Maintaining current records and personal stats for review against performance targets
- Attending recruitment fairs and other exhibitions or business events to expand the client base and develop new business

Working hours are 8.45am-6.00pm Monday to Friday. The starting basic salary is £18,000. On average a Trainee Consultant will earn between £30,000 and £40,000 in their first year with commission included.

First and foremost, this is a professional sales based position. Therefore candidates must show the following qualities and attributes:

- A strong degree in a traditional subject
- Achievement in a sales based environment (telesales, fundraising, telemarketing, estate agency)
- First rate communication skills (on the phone and face-to-face)
- Motivation to be working in a target based sales role
- Mental ability to cope with the frustration and rejection that a sales role will inevitably bring
- Drive for personal achievement and high earnings.
